Cricket Coaching Success Stories

Judge us by the company we keep

Alister Collins

Alister was one of our foundation clients. When Evolution started he was one of the first players I thought would be ideal. He was keen as mustard, loved his cricket and was close to making rep teams, however wasn’t quite cutting the mustard.

He joined our first academy programme and while it was clear he was a hard worker it was his work ethic that made his evolution very easy. He began making the rep sides by making the STAC 1st XI and then went on to play prems for St Albans off and on. From there he started working for us as a part-time coach and he has been excellent. It was very easy to train Alister because as I had coached him for some time, he knew how we rolled.

Brett Taylor

I first coached Brett as a 12 year old when he captained the U13 Canterbury Indoor Cricket team I was coaching. He was a very talented player and a good leader.

We played together at Action Indoor Sports in the Sharks Premier team and then later at Sumner Cricket Club. Brett studied a Bachelor of Sports Coaching and while he studied he began working for Evolution Sports Coaching. He was excellent.

He was my assistant coach of the Canterbury U13 Indoor Cricket team that ended up NZ champs at the NZ Provincial Tournament! After graduating, Brett wanted to head overseas so we helped him find a club in the UK where he is currently doing extremely well scoring lots of runs, (3 100s so far!) watching the Cricket World Cup and the Ashes and coaching their juniors!

Dom Hasselberg

Dom came to us 3 years ago when he was booked in for a holiday programme that we did not end up running due to lack of numbers. Instead of cancelling, we ran a special programme for Dom and his mate. This lead to more regular one to one sessions and joining our academy in Sumner.

Dom has a very unique bowling action (much like Paul Adams or Blake Coburn) so we have worked really hard together to maintain his uniqueness and make his action as repeatable and accurate as possible. We even got Blake Coburn (Canterbury Kings player) to work with Dom and talk about his journey. Dom has continued to evolve his game and I am confident if he continues to work as hard as he has to this point, he will be an outstanding young cricketer.
