Dan Vann, Christchurch Cricket Coach

Dan Vann has coached cricket both locally in Christchurch and internationally for over 10 years. An experienced cricket player, captain, coach and administrator, he enjoys every aspect of the game. Dan has a unique combination of skills both as a cricket player and as a PE teacher, which enables him to get the best out of his players.
“I keep sessions fun, interesting and challenging. At the end of the day, hard work is important, but enjoyment is what will keep them motivated and keeping them in the sport!” 
As a player, Dan has played over 350 games of Senior A cricket in Christchurch. He is the current player-coach of the Sumner Cricket Club Senior team where he is the clubs second highest wicket taker of all time, and the 5th highest run scorer. Dan has also been involved as a player, coach and captain of the Metro Senior representative teams over the last 8 years.
Dan's coaching experience has taken him to Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, India, the USA and the UK where he has been an overseas player-coach and also taken teams on international tours. As a junior representative coach, he has taken many Christchurch Metro teams to provincial tournaments. He's also coached the Canterbury Women’s Indoor Cricket team and previously coached U15-U17 Canterbury teams as well. Dan also recently coached the Singapore U17 team in the Junior World Cup and has been selected to play for the O35 New Zealand Masters team in the Masters World Cup in South Africa. 

Dan enjoys his role as a PE teacher at Chisnallwood Intermediate. He is able to bring all his experience and skills working with young athletes to help them improve their game. He is the 1st XI cricket coach and 1st XV rugby coach at Chisnallwood Intermediate.
