Dan Vann is an experienced and passionate coach. Formerly a teacher for over 18 years he has coached cricket, rugby and mental skills both locally in Christchurch and internationally for over 20 years. An experienced cricket player, captain, coach and administrator, he enjoys every aspect of the game. Dan has a unique combination of skills both as a sports coach, PE teacher and mental skills coach, which enables him to get the best out of his clients.
As a player, Dan has played over 400 games of Senior A cricket in Christchurch. Formerly the player-coach of the Sumner Cricket Club Senior team where he is the clubs highest wicket taker of all time, and the 3rd highest run scorer. Dan has also been involved as a player, coach and captain of the Metro Senior representative teams over the last 15 years.
Dan's coaching experience has taken him to Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, India, the USA and the UK where he has been an overseas player-coach and also taken teams on international tours. As a junior representative coach, he has taken many Christchurch Metro teams to provincial tournaments. He's also coached the Canterbury Women’s Indoor Cricket team, the NZ U15 indoor cricket team, the Singapore U17 indoor cricket team and previously coached U15-U17 Canterbury teams as well. Dan has also represented NZ in indoor cricket in 2019 (South Africa) 2024 (Sri Lanka) World Cup, representing the Over 35 and Over 40 New Zealand Masters team.
Dan's passion for helping people does not end on the sports field. His study and experience in the mental skills and mindset space has meant he is able to help all people (corporates, business people, teachers, parents, coaches, athletes) to set goals, identify barriers and limiting beliefs, set process goals and equip people with the skills and tools to overcome interferences and set backs and achieve their goals!
